Day 22 – Coeur d’Alene, ID
Well, they finally decided to leave Spokane, but they didn’t get far. This place is just about twenty miles away from our former abode, even though it is in a different state. The ambiance is different here, though; I’ll tell you about it in a little bit.

On our way over here, we stopped at the Idaho Welcome Center, located in a Rest Stop. The Welcome Center was closed, causing Don to wonder if Idaho was closed, and for how long? Or maybe it was just closed to tourists? I didn’t care, it obviously wasn’t closed to dogs, ‘cause dogs don’t even use Welcome Centers. It was a very nice rest stop, with great grass, and I did some good rolling. We headed on into Coeur d’Alene, and found our RV Park, which is situated on the bank of the lake of the same name. It’s a big park, and we did a little wandering in the rig before we found our assigned spot. The brochure warned us that the water pressure in the park was high, and we had best use a pressure regulator. Don, of course, had a relatively high tech regulator that he had constructed several years ago, but had rarely used since. He fished it out of the basement, and installed it on the hose connection, then hooked up our supply hose to it. When he turned on the water, the high pressure was evident, as water was shooting out of every connection on the regulator assembly. Don got some big pliers, and attempted to tighten up the connections, causing one of them to separate from the rest of the unit, resulting in a major water spout. He gave the whole thing up as a bad job, and retrieved a cheap, commercial regulator from the basement and installed it. No leaks.

When the hookup was complete, Don went into the coach to wash his hands; the regulator was doing a bang-up job of reducing the water pressure – to zero. He disgustedly turned on the water pump, and we’ll be using water from our own tank while we’re here. We went out for a ride and a little shopping after we were set up, and found Coeur d’Alene to be a lovely town, obviously with strong tourism/vacationing capacity, lots of hotels, motels, an upscale downtown shopping area, and a lake surrounded by wooded hills. There’s lots for a vacationer to do here, mostly oriented around the lake, and many scenic drives are available in the area. Geri and Don were favorably impressed.

When we got back from our ride, Geri took me for a walk around the RV Park, including a stop at the Doggy Beach. Several of my species were frolicking in the lake, chasing toys thrown by their humans. Geri wanted to know if I was interested in joining them, but I knew that doing so would make us late for dinner, so I respectfully declined. When we got back to the coach, Don was cooking up some salmon and tortellini, which was well received by all of us. Don took a few pics, including some signs he saw in town that he thought were interesting, and I think he’ll post them. I’ll have a more complete report on this area for you tomorrow. Till then, be good!

Don liked this sign

He liked this one, too; don't know why
