Day 13 – Bothell, WA
This morning’s crisis was the loss of the DirecTV satellite connection; Don had managed to set it up last night after many attempts to get the antenna to lock in to a signal, but the connection wasn’t real good. And this morning, it was nonexistent. Of course, this doesn’t really affect me directly, but it does kind of disrupt Geri and Don’s morning routine, which can put them in a bad mood. I don’t want them to be in a bad mood. Don finally went out and made up the cable connection from the park, so we had some local news programs to watch, which they thought were very entertaining. They particularly enjoyed the news show where the weather lady went running off the set in the middle of her report due to a wardrobe malfunction.

For our morning walk, Don took me to an abandoned school in downtown Bothell, and I remembered it from visiting it last year. It had some nice grass for rolling, lots of buildings to roam around, and some good places for running. I had a really good time there, and I’m sure we’ll be back before we leave. When we got back to the coach, Geri and Don left to go to a restaurant for breakfast, something they hardly ever do, and I got a chance for a little napping. When they returned, they were really pleased with their breakfasts, and I was happy that they were happy.

We got a little housecleaning done, and then we got in the truck and headed over to Gary’s house. I always get excited when I visit his house, ‘cause it brings back so many memories of my puppyhood. This is where I grew up, and got my excellent training! It’s really fun to go back. Gary surprised me with a new toy, a ferret with a squeaker in the tail, and he threw it for me to retrieve a whole bunch of times. Geri and Don were a little surprised at my desire to retrieve, as they don’t see much of it at home; in fact, Don sometimes calls me a Golden Deceiver. Geri took me out for a walk on our favorite path next to the golf course, where there are usually a bunch of squirrels to chase, but they had obviously gotten the word that I was in town, and disappeared.

When we got back to Gary’s, Don was cooking up a dinner for them, some stir fry vegetables with chicken. It smelled really good, and I was hoping for some good plates. Sure enough, Don had some very nice leftovers for me, and Geri did almost as well. To my disappointment, Gary had finished every scrap and left me with only some sauce to lick. I’m not one to hold a grudge, though, and I’m sure he’ll make up for it some other time. After dinner, Don took some pictures out in the front yard, and I told him to post a few.

When we got back to the rig, Geri suggested that Don try to get the satellite TV working, which he did, and was successful in getting it up and running again! So, the evening ended very happily, with Don and I working on the blog and Geri watching her favorite programs. We’re going down south to visit our friends Craig and Jennifer tomorrow, should be lots of fun! I’ll give you a full report when we get back. Sayonara!
