Why am I getting the feeling that we’re going to ask for a monthly rate here? The first thing Don did this morning while we were heading out for our morning walk was to stop at the office and sign up for another day! Oh, well, it’s no skin off my snout, it’s very nice here, and we’re all having a good time. I even got my wish this morning for a new phony paper to retrieve. The old one was getting really ragtag, though that’s mostly my fault. I do tend to attack it at times. Anyway, Don and I watched a small airplane take off from the airstrip in back of the Park; then we watched it land, but take off immediately. Then it landed and took off again. And again. And again. Guess they needed to do it till they got it right.
I got an early lunch and we piled into the truck and headed out. First stop was a shop where Geri could get her paws worked on; seems like they were getting kind of scruffy, though I hadn’t noticed it. Next stop was a restaurant, where they had lunch. Then we careened across town to the Museum that they visited yesterday, so that they could tour the house next door. It was a big house, and they were gone for almost an hour. When they got back to the truck, they told me that it wasn’t anyplace that they would like to live, too dark, strange wallpaper, and way too big! But they enjoyed the tour, anyway. The place had belonged to a family that had made a lot of money in the Idaho silver mines, but didn’t want to live in Idaho. Their daughter must have hated the place, ‘cause as soon as her parents died, she gave the house to the city.
Love that wallpaper!

They took a break from touring, and let me do some wandering at the same place we stopped yesterday, overlooking a canyon and a creek. We met some people there, and the lady told them that she had been the Mayor of Spokane 20 years ago. Geri and Don let her know how much they were enjoying the city, and she seemed pleased to hear that. Back in the truck, Don programmed Garmie to take us to our next destination, another Museum. It was a harrowing trip, involving going the wrong way on one-way streets, but we finally made it to Carr’s Museum of One of a Kind in the World. Again, species discrimination reared its ugly head, and I was not allowed in. They spent about an hour there, and came out with their eyes rolling. They told me it was a Museum like none other they had ever seen, with exhibits that included a singing skeleton, a stuffed squirrel flying a biplane, Jackie Gleason’s limo, dozens of mounted animal heads, a WWI German machine gun, a custom made Lincoln auto that belonged to Elvis Presley, and a thousand other pieces of exceptionally weird stuff. They had been given a tour of the place by Mr. Carr himself, a very pleasant and good humored individual, who opened the museum for three hours each Saturday and Sunday. We could only speculate what he did with the rest of his time. The Museum itself is a One of a Kind in the World. Don will certainly post some pics of some of the exhibits. He said he would like to own it. I think it would be a good fit.

Our final expedition of the day was out to an area called Green Bluffs, where there are a lot of orchards and berry patches. A lot of the growers had retail sales stands to peddle their products to the public, and we stopped at several of them. Geri was looking for some good apples, but it turned out that you had to pick them yourself, which she wasn’t inclined to do. Don scored some Bartlett pears, which he loves, and got a couple of bottles of old fashioned cream soda and a jug of authentic German-style sauerkraut, which he plans to serve with the bratwurst he got at Double D meats in Mountlake Terrace. I think the plates from that meal might be pretty good.
We finally made it back to the coach, and I finally got my dinner, just a little bit late. Geri took me out for a walk, but refused to go where I wanted to go, which was to visit a farmhouse near the Park. I don’t know why I was drawn to it, but it just looked like a friendly place. But, she’s the boss lady, I’m just a guy, and a dog, at that. We got back to the rig, they had some leftovers, and I had a small plate from Don that tasted good, but made me go for the water immediately afterward. Don and I worked on the Blog, we watched some TV, and went beddy-bye. Don’t know what’s happening tomorrow, but I will dutifully report on it. Night, all!
